Strap on your cowboy boots and Stetsons because Netflix has a new sheriff in town. The latest series Ransom Canyon dominated the streamer’s top 10 list, currently sitting at No. 2, and delighted fans with its passionate love triangles, territorial fights and steamy cowboys.
Based on a book series by Jodi Thomas, the newest Western hit set in the beautiful Texas Hill Country — though filmed in New Mexico, where the stars are not exactly big and bright — follows strapping and stolid rancher Staten Kirkland (Josh Duhamel) reeling from unimaginable grief while struggling to preserve his land and legacy. The only positive in life is Kirkland’s requited crush on longtime friend Quinn O’Grady (Minka Kelly), owner of the local dance hall. Over 10 episodes, land wars and love affairs commence as the town attempts to maintain their way of life.
