Worried about unattended packages at your front door? Those deliveries could attract thieves looking for easy targets, especially during the holidays when a lot of expensive gifts tend to ship. CNET’s 2025 survey uncovered that 30% of Americans either have had a package stolen, nearly had one stolen or know someone who has, putting up to $300 at risk for the average adult.
“Delivery was meant to be convenient — but with porch theft like it is today, it’s anything but,” Hyve Security told me. “Getting a notification that a package has arrived is supposed to bring peace of mind. Instead, it brings panic.”
