It’s going to be a Netflix weekend for me. I’m excited to watch Azazel Jacobs’ critically acclaimed drama His Three Daughters, finally dive into the White Lotus-esque waters of The Perfect Couple, and revisit an old favorite: Heels.
The underappreciated Starz drama about a family-owned independent wrestling promotion in a close-knit Georgia community was one of my favorite shows of 2021. Starring Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig, the series lasted for two seasons, producing 16 episodes before finally tapping out in September 2023. And by that I mean Starz canceled it.
But who doesn’t love a good return pop?
Netflix recently acquired both seasons of Heels, adding to its growing library of wrestling content. The streamer will start airing Monday Night Raw in January 2025, Greg Whiteley’s seven-episode docuseries Wrestlers was added to the platform in September 2023, and the hotly anticipated Vince McMahon documentary premieres Wednesday, September 25.
