ESPN, Warner Bros. Discovery and Fox will not be launching its joint streaming venture, Venu Sports, the companies shared on Friday. The news comes days after Fubo and Disney-owned Hulu announced the merging of their live TV streaming businesses. The sports streaming service was originally set to launch in fall 2024, but a judge granted Fubo’s request to issue an injunction to block Venu’s rollout as part of its antitrust lawsuit.
“After careful consideration, we have collectively agreed to discontinue the Venu Sports joint venture and not launch the streaming service. In an ever-changing marketplace, we determined that it was best to meet the evolving demands of sports fans by focusing on existing products and distribution channels.
