We’re in a new era of off-kilter slow-burn horror movies and one of the best of 2024 has come to streaming. I’m talking, of course, about Longlegs. The indie serial killer drama — which was directed by Osgood Perkins and stars Maika Monroe, Blair Underwood, Alicia Witt and Nicolas Cage — took the box office by storm by raking in over $126 million globally. Considering the film’s budget was under $10 million, that’s a noteworthy accomplishment. And now you can revel in the weirdness at home.
The gist of Longlegs goes as follows: FBI agent Lee Harker (Monroe) is tasked with investigating a serial killer case that has spanned multiple decades. She takes on more than she initially expected and soon discovers a personal connection to the killer (played deliciously maniacal by an unrecognizable Cage) that flips the whole story on its head.
