The connection between The Office and its follow-up series at Peacock has become more concrete.
Oscar Nuñez, who played accountant Oscar Martinez throughout The Office’s run, will reprise his character in the Peacock series. Like its predecessor, the show is a mockumentary in which the documentary crew that filmed at Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch for years takes on a new project, following the publisher and staff of a historic but struggling Midwestern newspaper.
When The Office ended in 2013, Nuñez’s character was running for a state Senate seat in Pennsylvania while continuing to work at Dunder Mifflin. Details of how Oscar fits into the new series are being kept quiet for now — though Nuñez has been involved from the start (his casting was first reported by The Insneider newsletter).
