Paramount+ and HBO Max will merge into single streaming service

A lot has changed since October 2025, but Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison’s plans for the HBO Max streaming service have not. In October, Ellison said that it was his plan to merge HBO Max and Paramount+ into a single streaming platform if his company managed to buy Warner Bros. Discovery. With that outcome now looking highly likely, Ellison has re-committed to his strategy of merging the two direct-to-consumer (DTC) streamers.
