EXCLUSIVE: Netflix is developing Primal, a new romantic comedy written and directed by Ponies creator Susanna Fogel, which she’ll produce alongside Melissa Wells under their Big Adventure banner.
Primal follows teenage Jane, who lives most of her life online. Until, on a trip to a remote island, she meets Teddy, the sole survivor of a plane crash who lives totally off the grid. Opposites attract and a passionate romance ensues, but is put to the test when he follows her back to the modern world.
News of the project comes amid Fogel’s work as an exec producer of the upcoming Netflix remake of Little House on the Prairie.
A director, screenwriter, and novelist from Providence, Rhode Island, Fogel’s film credits include Booksmart, for which she was nominated for a BAFTA and a WGA Award; Winner, starring Emilia Jones and Zach Galifianakis, which premiered at the 2024
