UPDATE: John Legend and producer Mike Jackson have joined the producing team of Broadway‘s upcoming Cats: The Jellicle Ball, the production announced today, through their Get Lifted Film Co. banner.
With the announcement, Legend becomes the latest high-profile supporter of the Cats reimagining. Two weeks ago, Lena Waithe and Cynthia Erivo signed on. They join producers Michael Harrison and Mike Bosner as the production prepares to make its Broadway debut this spring at the Broadhurst Theatre.
Get Lifted’s theatre production credits include, among others, the 2017 revival of August Wilson’s Jitney, the hit Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations and Off Broadway’s Turn Me Loose starring Joe Morton. The company is also producing a new stage adaptation of Imitation of Life, featuring music and lyrics by Legend and a book by Lynn Nottage, which will premiere Off Broadway at The Shed.
