Paramount Pictures is not moving forward with Max Landis‘ take on a G.I. Joe movie, sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter.
Landis was originally tapped by the studio to work on a treatment for a feature adaptation of the Hasbro toy brand and one of their key IP franchises G.I. Joe, THR exclusively reported in February. The project was supposed to be a comeback from the creator following sexual misconduct allegations in 2019.
However, Paramount has now passed on Landis’ treatment for the film, though the studio is still in talks with other writers and awaiting scripts. One of them being The Righteous Gemstones star Danny McBride, who was hired to work on a separate script for Joe. Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers, Shooter) is the producer behind the Joe movies.
