‘Saturday Night Live’ Opens With Scathing Take On Donald Trump And Pete Hegseth’s Handling Of High Gas Prices And Other Iran War Fallout

The FCC chairman may be threatening the broadcast networks over their coverage of the Iran war, but Saturday Night Live again went with a cold open that skewered Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth for their lack of planning for the fallout from the Middle East intervention.

Over the past week, as gas prices have shot up, the president has tried to offer a counter-argument, while Hegseth has blamed the media for reporting on the negative side of the war.

In the skit, Trump (James Austin Johnson) appeared at a gas station as a family grapples with $5 a gallon.

“You might remember me from such campaign promises as lower gas prices and no more wars,” Trump said. “We love to make promises because a promise is just a lie that hasn’t happened yet.”
