Before Universal’s Super Mario Galaxy Movie conquers every country in the world, it’s all about Disney Pixar’s original Hoppers which after a $59.5M global weekend ($28.5M domestic, $31M from 45 territories), taking the animated movie to $164.7M WW ($86.8M of that domestic, $77.9M international). That’s one of the top three U.S. films worldwide year to date the highest grossing animated release YTD in just ten days of release ahead of Sony’s GOAT ($162.8M WW) and China’s Bonnie Bears: The Hidden Protector ($150M in PLC).
Hoppers holds are -37% stateside, and -17% abroad and was the top non-local movie opening in Japan ($2.4M), Hong Kong (best for an original animated pic since 2017’s Coco), Singapore (best opening for a Disney and Pixar original animated pic since 2016’s Moana) and Vietnam.
