‘One Battle After Another’s Sean Penn Won His Third Oscar, But Didn’t Show Up To Collect It

Sean Penn won his third Oscar for his role in One Battle After Another but was nowhere to be seen at the Dolby Theater.

Penn won Best Supporting Actor, beating his One Battle co-star Benicio del Toro, Frankenstein’s Jacob Elordi, Sinners’ Delroy Lindo and Sentimental Value’s Stellan Skarsgård.

However, after his name was called out by presenter Kieran Culkin, it was clear that Penn, who also skipped the Actors Awards (formerly known as SAG Awards) and the BAFTAs, wasn’t in attendance. He did turn up to the Golden Globes in January where he won the same category.

“Sean Penn couldn’t be here tonight, or didn’t want to, so I’ll be accepting this award on his behalf,” Culkin said.
