The internet’s reaction to the new Moana trailer may not necessarily warrant Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson saying, “You’re welcome.”
While the upcoming live-action iteration of the 2016 animated film sees Catherine Laga’aia take over the title role from Auli’i Cravalho, Johnson, who lent his voice to the role of Maui in both Moana and Moana 2, reprises the role of the demigod in the flesh.
However, since Disney dropped the trailer for the new movie on Monday, the internet has not shied away from commenting on the jaw-dropping wig that The Rock sports in this role.
“What is this… This ain’t Maui….. this is a cosplay gone wrong,” one critic wrote on X. “Why does it look so cringe.”
“A non-bald Dwayne Johnson feels so wrong,” another chimed in.
“It’s not that he isn’t bald, it’s that they made no effort to make that wig look good,” another claimed.
