
Live from Citi Field in New York, the Mets host the Pittsburgh Pirates on Opening Day!
The 2026 season officially kicked off last night as the New York Yankees shut out the San Francisco Giants 7-0. Max Fried got the win, Logan Webb took the L, and every New York starter not named Aaron Judge recorded a hit in the balanced win.
Mets vs. Pirates is the first game of today’s Opening Day slate, with Freddy Peralta getting the start for New York and Paul Skenes taking the mound for the Pirates. The Mets are hoping to improve upon last year’s mediocre season (83-79) and are optimistic that newcomer Bo Bichette, superstar Juan Soto, and the team’s exciting crop of young talent — Carson Benge, Nolan McLean, Brett Baty, Francisco Alvarez, just to name a few — can lead New York to the postseason.
