If Lili Reinhart’s new horror comedy movie coming to theaters this weekend, Forbidden Fruits, isn’t at least a little gay—or fruity, if you will—I, for one, will be severely disappointed.
Directed by Meredith Alloway, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Lily Houghton, Forbidden Fruits is based on Houghton’s 2019 play, Of the woman came the beginning of sin, and through her we all die. The film stars Riverdale‘s Lili Reinhart as a woman named Apple, who, in her spare time, runs a femme witch cult in the basement of the shoppoing mall where she works. Her fellow cult members, or fruits, include Cherry (played by Victoria Pedretti) and Fig (played by Alexandra Shipp). Then along comes a new member, Pumpkin (Lola Tung), who challenges the group’s “performative sisterhood.” Uh oh!
It’s giving The Craft, and I’m very much here for it. This sounds like a fun one to watch
