Donald Trump’s Signature To Appear On U.S. Paper Currency, A First For A Sitting President

Donald Trump‘s name has been added to the U.S. Institute of Peace and to the Kennedy Center, among other things, so it perhaps is little surprise that it will soon be on U.S. paper currency.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that Trump’s signature would appear on future dollar currency. This will be the first time that a sitting president’s signature has appeared on the currency.

As has been a long tradition, Bessent’s name also will appear, but it will be along with Trump’s. It’s unclear if that means that the signature of the treasurer of the United States, Brandon Beach, will no longer appear.

“There is no more powerful way to recognize the historic achievements of our great country and President Donald J. Trump than U.S dollar bills bearing his name, and it is only appropriate that this historic currency be issued at the Semiquincentennial,”
