Netflix has once again increased the price of its subscription tiers for users, claiming the new pricing will allow them to “reinvest in quality entertainment.”
The Netflix site shows the updated pricing without acknowledging the price increase. The Standard plan, with ads, now costs $8.99 a month, showing an increase of $1/month. The Standard ad-free plan now costs $19.99 a month, with the option of adding an extra member for $7.00 a month with ads or $9.99 without ads. The premium plan, which allows users to stream in 4K / UHD, has increased to $26.99 a month, marking a $2/month increase from its previous cost of $24.99.
The streamer defended the price increase in a statement to Variety.
