Howie Mandel Apologizes To Kelly Ripa After Awkward ‘Live’ Interaction Goes Viral: “Sometimes As A Comedian, Things Don’t Land The Way You Mean Them To Land”

Howie Mandel‘s viral exchange with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos during a recent episode of Live with Kelly and Mark has led the comedian to issue an apology.

Mandel shared a video on Instagram this weekend, in which he admitted he had “been debating for 48 hours whether [he] should make this post or not.”

“And I don’t know if I’m doing the right thing philosophically,” he conceded. “I don’t believe that somebody who’s a comedian needs to apologize for a joke. It is a joke. It is meant as a joke, and it’s not meant to offend.”

Mandel explained that in his “50 years in the business,” he has never “publicly kind of apologized” for a joke, which he said makes this “hard for [him].”
