Netflix continues to build upon its animated programming with the new romantic comedy series, The Ramparts of Ice. Adapted from Kōcha Agasawa’s 2020-2022 web manga series of the same name, this warm-hearted anime centers on themes of loneliness, friendship, and human nature as seen through an ensemble cast of high schoolers looking to find themselves (and each other). The show follows the journey of”Ice Queen” Koyuki Hikawa (Erika Harlacher) as several classmates begin to close the distance and bring her out of her shell, helping all of them grow in the process.
Opening Shot: We see flashbacks from the perspective of a girl named Koyuki, experiencing through her eyes some of the harassment and uncomfortable experiences she shared with middle school classmates who picked on her for her shyness, height, and more. She then wonders to herself why her hurt feelings are always laughed off or brushed aside instead
