Gaza, L.A. Wildfires & Trump Dominate News & Documentary Emmy Nominations

The war in Gaza, the Southern California wildfires and Donald Trump dominated the nominations for the 47th Annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards, which were announced today by The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

The awards will be presented live at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City and will be streamed live over two nights. News categories will be presented on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at 7 p.m. EDT.  Documentary categories on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 7 p.m. EDT

The honorees were selected from more than 2000 submissions of programming that originally premiered in calendar-year 2025. They were judged by a pool of more than 900 peer professionals from across the television and digital media news & documentary industry.
