The Boys Season 5 premieres on an even bleaker note than the Season 4 finale that saw Hughie and the boys get split up.
The new season kicks off with Annie (Erin Moriarty) infiltrating the Vought International Annual Meeting of Shareholders and leaking the Flight 37 footage that shows Homelander refusing to rescue a plane full of survivors as they crash towards their death. Vought successfully spins the story in his favor and convinces the public it was A.I.-generated, leading Annie to think her plan failed.
Moriarty told DECIDER that she thought the twist was “really cool.”
“I think it’s very topical, as are many moments on the show. I love that they incorporate the idea of it being A.I. and everyone claiming that,” she said, adding, “It felt very zeitgeist-y.”
This was supposed to be Annie’s smoking gun. It should be enough to take him down
