Calling all deep-cut horror fans: There’s remake of the 1978 cult mondo horror flick, Faces of Death, opening in movie theaters this weekend. Unlike the original film, the 2026 Faces of Death movie isn’t claiming to be a documentary—but it is claiming to deliver plenty of realistically scary moments.
Directed by Daniel Goldhaber (How to Blow Up a Pipeline), who also co-wrote the script with Isa Mazzei, the 2026 Faces of Death remake stars Euphoria’s Barbie Ferreira as Margot, who has a job monitoring content for a video-sharing social media platform. While working, she discovers a series of videos that appear to be reenacting murders from the 1978. But are these video staged? Or are they actually snuff videos of real murders? It’s Margot’s job to find out, and it’s not going to be a pleasant experience.
