Netherlands Film Fund Appoints New Permanent CEO After Three Years Of Interim Leadership

Iwana Chronis has been appointed as CEO of the Netherlands Film Fund, succeeding Sandra den Hamer who has served as interim director for the past three years.

Taking up the post on May 1, Chronis will be responsible for shaping the course and strategy of the fund, together with Business Director George van Breemen.

The fund, which is backed by the Netherlands’ Ministry of Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, is a key financier of local feature films as well as indie co-productions with supported international titles over the past 18 months including The Secret Agent, Filipiñana and upcoming Cannes Palme d’Or contender Coward.

It has €92.1M ($107M) available for 2026, with €20M ($23M) earmarked for feature film production and €9.5 ($11.1M) for high-end series, alongside support schemes for development and distribution among other initiatives.
