
Asha Bhosle, the legendary Bollywood playback singer whose voice was immortalized on more than 2,000 films, has died. She was 92.
The 2x Grammy nominated singer died on Sunday in a Mumbai hospital after she was admitted the day before following a heart attack, The Times of India reported, resulting in an outpouring of tributes from fans of Bhosle’s 80-year career.
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a statement on X, “I am deeply saddened by the passing of Smt. Asha Bhosle ji, one of India’s most renowned and versatile voices. Her unique musical journey spanning decades has enriched our cultural heritage and touched the hearts of countless people around the world.
