Netflix once again shows its platforming power by elevating a forgotten/never-remembered-in-the-first-place generic Lifetime original into the Netflix Top 10: Gaslit by My Husband: The Morgan Metzer Story is a true-crime-adjacent BOATS (Based On A True Story) movie that fully explains itself in its title, and almost seems to be banking on at least a portion of its audience being familiar with who Metzer is. She was the subject of a few regional Georgia headlines in 2021 after her spouse was arrested and imprisoned for domestic violence, including a disturbing instance in which he disguised himself as a home invader and sexually assaulted her. One Tree Hill stars Jana Kramer (a Lifetime-movie regular) and Austin Nichols anchor a movie that never comes close to transcending its made-for-TV status.
