Home automation has been introduced to the masses at a fever pitch, with nearly every device in the home capable of being set to routines and schedules. Automation is one of the key components of a smart home, but as I’ve found in my many years of testing the latest home tech, there is such a thing as too much automation.
There’s nothing wrong with remote control — controlling your home tech ad-hoc via smartphone, smart speaker, on-device buttons or an actual remote — but it doesn’t compare to an automation that anticipates what you need before you even think to ask.
