A penny for your thoughts? How about a nickel for your laughs?
Kelly Ripa got a kick out of a silly moment on Thursday’s Live with Kelly and Mark when Mark Consuelos read that “the penny’s already dead, and the nickel could be the next to go.”
“For each nickel, it cost [the Mint] 13 cents to make, so it doesn’t make any senes,” he said, prompting a pun from Ripa.
“It doesn’t make any sense to make all this cents,” she quipped.
After Consuelos said that “the Mint lost $85 million” on making nickels, Ripa urged Live viewers to “start hoarding our pennies and nickels.”
“They’re going to be a thing of value. One of these days,” she lamented. “One of these days, they’ll be like, ‘Remember the penny?’ And I’ll be like, ‘Yes, I have a jar full of pennies.’”
