Amira Casar & Pip Torrens Board Masha Egieva’s Erotic Drama Short ‘Rokeby Venus’
EXCLUSIVE: Amira Casar (Call Me By Your Name) and Pip Torrens (The Crown) have boarded erotic drama short Rokeby Venus. Directed by Masha Egieva (Saint Vassily), the film revolves around a crisis of desire for a middle-aged bourgeois couple and is shooting in Paris this week. According to Egieva, the film is “toying with the canons of Greek tragedy and French erotic drama” and questions if women need to be seen to feel desired. “In the film, Marion — feeling unseen by her obsessive, glaucoma-stricken art historian husband — takes violent measures to reignite the spark in their relationship,” said Egieva. The film precedes Egieva’s debut feature, a psychological thriller-horror she is developing with London-based producer and postproduction-house DISAUTHORITY, which is also producing the short.
