
After months of speculation, Netflix has confirmed that its Assassin’s Creed series is set in Ancient Rome. The location became clear months ago when it was revealed that the adaptation of the video game will film in Rome, Italy. The time period was not that obvious since the games span events from ancient history to the early 20th century.
The TV series will tell an original story nor covered in the games which will be set in Rome 64 AD. The year, associated with the Great Fire of Rome, falls during the reign of Emperor Nero.
Production has begun with filming taking place primarily at Cinecittà Studios, expanding upon the established Ancient Rome back lot.
