Both Benjamin Ayres and Bethany Joy Lenz felt like they were in good hands when cast alongside each other to lead Hope Valley: 1874.
For Ayres, he knew he and the One Tree Hill alum “already had so much chemistry” due to them both being what he deemed “three namers”: “Bethany Joy Lenz and Benjamin James Ayres.”
Jokes aside, the Hallmark vet explained that he and Lenz have “done so many” for the network, where “quite often you’ve got to find that chemistry and that connection so quickly,” including the signature kiss scene.
“Whereas this is like a real slow burn,” he explained to DECIDER of the When Calls the Heart prequel series, which premiered on Hallmark+ today. “And I think it’s been really nice for the both of us to naturally find it.”
