Dame Anna Wintour joined star Anne Hathaway at the 2026 Oscars for two hilarious bits in which the former Vogue editor and fashion icon finally acknowledged her reputation as the inspiration behind Meryl Streep‘s character in The Devil Wears Prada.
Wintour joined Hathaway on stage to present the Academy Awards for Best Costume Design and Best Makeup. Hathaway, herself an Oscar-winner for Les Miserables, started the first bit by explaining how important costumes are for cinematic storytelling. She elegantly referenced all of the nominated films before turning her attention to her own fashion choice for the evening.
“Anna, just curious,” Hathaway said. “What do you think of my dress tonight?”
Wintour, putting on her iconic shades, simply said, “And the nominees are…”
Then, after presenting the Oscar for Best Costume Design to Frankenstein‘s Kate Hawley, the duo went on to turn their attention to Best Hair and Makeup,
