Daniel Dae Kim was 1 when he left South Korea. It took him five decades to find his way back.
Born in Busan, South Korea, Kim moved to the U.S. with his family and grew up in New York and Pennsylvania. But in recent years, the prolific actor (Lost, Hawaii Five-O) and producer (The Good Doctor) has spent more and more time in the country of his birth.
In 2024, he fulfilled a long-held dream of filming in South Korea, shooting the Amazon Prime spy thriller Butterfly for seven months across more than 20 cities, including Busan. The same year, the city of Seoul made him an honorary citizen.
