Fox Corp. has set a “Tubi takeover” for next month’s coverage of Super Bowl LIX, highlighted by a livestream of the game on the free, ad-supported service.
The Tubi presence will complement game coverage across multiple platforms on February 9. The main telecast will be available on the Fox broadcast network, Fox Deportes and NBCUniversal’s Telemundo (which acquired a share of Spanish-language rights), as well as NFL digital platforms.
The other two networks in the current Super Bowl rotation have increasingly looked to position streaming outlets alongside broadcast TV as lures for younger viewers. Offerings like Peacock and Paramount+ are subscription services, however, unlike Tubi. (Ditto with Hulu, which was paired with ABC for live Oscars simulcasts.)
Live programming, as Fox Corp. executives have recently emphasized, is not a strategic priority for Tubi, which sees about 95% of its viewing coming from on-demand titles. Free streaming
