The ongoing military conflicts in Iran and the Middle East have caused gasoline prices around the world to rise since the airstrikes began on Feb. 28. The US national average is now about $1.06 per gallon more than it was this time last year, and the biggest price hikes may still be yet to come.
This morning, gas price expert Patrick De Haan posted on X that the US national average gas price could “quickly hit $4.50/gal.” He followed that up shortly after with an all-caps post on Bluesky claiming, “THE HIKES ARE STARTING.”
