The Producers Guild awarded Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle with the Darryl F. Zanuck Award just a few weeks before the Academy bestowed the film with its own highest honor, serving as an opportune reminder that producers often know best — at least when it comes to the feat of filmmaking.

This year marked the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the PGA’s Code of Credits, which for a quarter century has quietly played a critical role in the industry by helping determine which producers are formally recognized for the top awards across the major voting bodies, including the Academy.
