As one Apple TV+ drama begins to wind down, another is just getting started.
Dope Thief, a new crime drama, premiered today, March 14, with two episodes. It’s based on the novel of the same name by Dennis Tafoya and was created by Peter Craig, who received an Oscar nomination in 2023 for co-writing Top Gun: Maverick.
Craig isn’t the only major Hollywood talent behind Dope Thief, though; prolific director Ridley Scott was behind the camera for the pilot episode, too.
Dope Thief follows two lifelong friends (Brian Tyree Henry and Wagner Moura), who pose as DEA agents in Philadelphia with the intention to rob small-time drug dealers, but their plan goes off the rails when they choose the wrong mark and end up as the targets of a much larger narcotics empire.
