Pope Francis‘ funeral will take place Saturday, April 26 in Italy, meaning it will be early in the morning for most wanting to watch from America. The pontiff’s passing on Easter Monday, April 21 followed a respiratory tract infection, for which he was hospitalized for five weeks in February. Complications arose as he was diagnosed with bilateral pnuemonia. The head of the Vatican’s Health Department, Dr. Andrea Arcangeli, confirmed that the religious leader died of a cerebral stroke that put him into a coma and led to heart failure.
The Pope died less than a full day after his visit with U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance. Guests at the funeral will include President Donald Trump, Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Prince William who will go in place of his father King Charles. Charles met with the pontiff just days before his death as well.
