A new take on the classic Spider-Man story is swinging onto our TV screens.
The first two episodes of Marvel Animation’s latest project, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, dropped today on Disney+. The series, which stars Academy Award nominee Colman Domingo as Norman Osborn and What If…? actor Hudson Thames reprising his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, is set within the multiverse of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Instead of Earth-616, where Tony Stark/Iron Man becomes Peter’s mentor after developing his superpowers, this show is set on Earth where Osborn, famously a Spider-Man villain becomes his mentor instead.
The show will feature appearances from MCU characters we know and love while reinventing the Spider-Man origin story and forging a new path for a new Peter Parker using 3D cel-shaded animation that pays homage to early The Amazing Spider-Man comic books.
