Peacock is not proceeding with a second season of thriller drama Hysteria!, Deadline has confirmed. The news comes 3½ months after the eight-episode first season was released as a binge drop on October 18.
It is not surprising as the series starring Julie Bowen and Anna Camp didn’t manage to make noise like other recent Peacock entries, including The Day Of the Jackal and Apples Never Fall. The decision follows the recent cancellation of another Peacock October release, horror drama Teacup.
Written and executive produced by Matthew Scott Kane, Hysteria! is set during the “Satanic Panic” of the late 1980s, when a beloved varsity quarterback disappears.
