If you want to spend your Thanksgiving in the arena, then go ahead and take the family to see Gladiator 2, which opens in theaters this weekend.
Directed by Ridley Scott, this sequel to Scott’s popular 2000 action movie, Gladiator, brings a new cast of characters to the world of ancient Roman combat sport. Paul Mescal stars as Lucius Verus, the now-grown nephew of Roman emperor Commodus (played by Joaquin Phoenix in the original movie). Pedro Pascal stars as General Marcus Acacius, while Denzel Washington stars as Macrinus, who mentors Mescal’s character in the ways of being a gladiator.
Also starring Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Lior Raz, Derek Jacobi, and Connie Nielsen, Gladiator 2 promises to be an action-packed, entertaining watch. That said, if you were hoping to watch Gladiator 2 at home on streaming, you’re going to have to wait.
