The Robbie Williams movie Better Man opens wide in theaters in the U.S. this weekend, which means that Americans can finally learn who the heck Robbie Williams is.
Directed by Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman), Better Man is a musical biopic about, and starring, Robbie Williams, a British pop singer who made it big in the U.K. in the ’90s, but who never took off across the pond. But this isn’t just any musician biopic: This is a musician biopic in which the lead role is played by a CGI chimpanzee, with a voiceover from Williams. Hey, at least it’s different!
Written by Gracey, Simon Gleeson, and Oliver Cole, Better Man takes viewers through Williams’ childhood in Stoke-on-Trent, England, through his success with the band Take That, to his struggles with alcohol and addiction. Did we mention that this movie is also a musical?
