Over two years after the movie first premiered at Sundance Film Festival, the Jonathan Majors’s Magazine Dreams movie is finally opening in theaters.
Written and directed by Elijah Bynum, Magazine Dreams was acquired by Searchlight Pictures, after a successful Sundance premiere that had awards pundits speculating for a Majors award circuit. A few months later, Majors was arrested and charged with assault, harassment, and strangulation following a domestic dispute with former girlfriend Grace Jabbari. In December 2023, Majors was convicted by a court of law, for one count of reckless assault in the 3rd degree, and a charge of harassment as a violation. As a result of the controversy, the actor was dropped by his management company, and Searchlight returned the rights to the movie. Eventually, the rights were picked up again by Briarcliff Entertainment, the independent studio behind the recently Oscar-nominated film, The Apprentice.
