The year is 2024 and there’s a new Transformers movie coming to theaters, because time is a flat circle.
Transformers One is releasing in theaters this weekend, marking the eighth movie in the Transformers franchise, and the first animated Transformers movie to get a theatrical release. Technically a prequel, this film will take viewers back to the origins of Optimus Prime and Megatron. Have you heard? Before they were enemies, they were once the best of friends.
Chris Hemsworth stars as the voice of Optimus Prime, while Brian Tyree Henry voices Megatron. Other voice actors in the Transformers One cast include Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, Laurence Fishburne, and Jon Hamm. The film was directed by Josh Cooley, with a screenplay by Eric Pearson, Andrew Barrer, and Gabriel Ferrari. Michael Bay did not direct this one, but does serve as a producer.
