Two-time Tony winner Kara Young is joining the cast of the first ever Broadway revival of David Auburn’s Tony- and Pulitzer-winning play Proof, directed by Thomas Kail. The Purpose and Purlie Victorious actor will step in for Samira Wiley (Orange Is The New Black), who is withdrawing from the production due to what a show spokesperson says is “a treatable medical condition.”

“Emmy and SAG Award winner Samira Wiley, who was previously announced to play ‘Claire,’ is withdrawing from Proof, with the production’s complete support and well wishes, due to a treatable medical condition that calls for her full attention,” the casting change announcement states.

Young joins the previously announced Ayo Edebiri, Don Cheadle and Jin Ha in the revival that begins previews at the Booth Theatre on Tuesday, March 31 ahead of an opening night on Thursday, April 16.
