‘LOTR’: Prime Video Gives ‘Rings Of Power’ Viewership Update Ahead Of Season 2 Finale

Prime Video gave an updated viewership figure for both seasons of Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power on Wednesday.

To date, Season 1 has attracted more than 150M global viewers, Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios, said during the streamer’s UK Upfront presentation in London. She added that the UK is among the top regions in terms of the series’ viewership.

So far, Season 2 has managed 55M global viewers ahead of the finale, Salke said. The Season 2 finale airs on Thursday.

It’s likely that Salke is actually referring to the number of accounts that watched, as opposed to actual number of viewers, since it would be impossible for Amazon to measure how many people were viewing at the time an account was streaming the content — a capability that Nielsen has due to its own data on how many people live
