Ludwig Göransson Pays Touching Tribute To His Dad As He Wins Third Career Oscar For Scoring ‘Sinners’

Swedish musician Ludwig Göransson cemented his status as the most decorated film composer of the decade, winning three of the past eight Oscars for Best Original Score out of three nominations in the category. His third statuette came for his work on Ryan Coogler’s Sinners.

In accepting the award, Göransson explained how a guy from Sweden got to score the blues-infused score of the Mississippi-set Sinners.

“My dad bought his first blues album in Sweden in 1964,” he said. “It was a John Lee Hooker album, and even though it was on the other side of the world from a place he’d never been and could not relate to, the music was so powerful that it changed my dad’s life, and he devoted his whole life to music.
