
Malin Akerman is set to be honored at The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment Canada gala event on May 28.
Akerman, who stars alongside Brittany Snow as manipulative socialite Margo Banks in the Netflix series adaptation of The Hunting Wives, will receive the Impact Award at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Toronto. Ontario-raised Akerman will be feted as a Canadian trailblazer who has advanced the representation of women in the entertainment industry and inspired audiences globally.
Having made her acting debut in a Canadian sci-fi series Earth: Final Conflict in 1997, Akerman went on to star in over 75 major studio movies, indie films and TV series. Her credits include the comedy Chick Fight, where she starred opposite Bella Thorne and Dulcé Sloan; Couples Retreat, alongside Vince Vaughn; appearing with Kat Dennings in Nicol Paone’s Friendsgiving; AMC’s Soulmates, the anthology sci-fi drama; and Trish Sie’s Netflix middle-school adventure The Sleepover.
