Moana 2 made quite the splash on Disney+.
The anticipated sequel drew 27.3 million views globally in its first five days on the streamer, according to Disney. That marks the biggest Walt Disney Animation Studios premiere since Encanto and the third-largest animated theatrical premiere of all time on Disney+.
The original Moana also passed 1.4 billion hours streamed on Disney+, the Mouse House says. Apparently, 2024 was the film’s most-streamed year yet, and it’s already been the most-streamed film on the streaming platform since it launched.
Earlier this year, Moana 2 crossed $1 billion at the global box office. It made its debut in late November, notching the highest-ever reported animated opening weekend at the global box office. It set many other records at the time of release and continued riding a wave throughout the holidays, eventually becoming the No. 3 highest-grossing animated movie of 2024.
