Just when I think I’ve seen everything a murder mystery has to offer, Netflix introduces something new and exciting to the mix. I’m talking about The Residence, and if you haven’t heard about the streamer’s screwball crime comedy (which hails from Shonda Rhimes), I’m here to tell you to drop everything and add it to your binge list, stat.
The premise of the series is simple enough: During a dinner event at the White House, the dead body of one of the staff members is found. The goal is to find the murderer, but with 132 rooms to scrub for evidence and 157 suspects in attendance to interrogate, it’s clear this isn’t the job for the local police, the FBI or the CIA.
To make matters worse, there’s a ticking clock on this whole affair — the last thing the president needs is news of this crime getting leaked to the press.
